How our High Streets must change

The way we are working, living, and playing in our towns is changing. The solution is not to ignore what is happening, but to understand it … And then to take advantage of it.

The fall of the high street represents a great opportunity to regenerate our town centers by demolishing unattractive buildings and replacing them with more attractive ones. Or by sympathetically extending existing buildings that have architectural merit.

The answer is not to try to retain what we have. It is to reinvent it by creating inspiring buildings that make a positive impact on the places they are built-in and which are designed around the way people live their lives. I talk more about the topic in this video. If you’re interested in more insights on this topic, read my article ‘The Reinvention of Retail’.
