After over 20 years of experience in property development and investment, I have learned a lot about how to  deliver property development projects in a profitable and cost-efficient manner. In the last decade, I have focused strongly on sustainable property development and the technologies which enable it.

My interest in these technologies led to a number of investments in early stage technology companies that provide products and services which create positive social and environmental impact in the property sector. My success with these investments led to a decision to form Hyperlight Ventures and raise my first Venture Capital fund.

From Metaverse based design which enables digitisation of the entire property supply chain to building integrated designer photovoltaic panels and carbon offgsetting, energy positive buildings, technology is starting to disrupt the property sector in ways that we have not previously even imagined.

We are already starting to see homes being 3D printed and wll soon see construction using exoskeletons, robots and drones. With companies like Space-X starting to bring the human race into space, we now need to be thinking about how we construct buildings in space, on the moon or on Mars.

As property supply chains digitise and become more sustainable, so do the financial solutions that support the property sector. Green digital finance, particularly solutions focused on emerging markets and underserved demographics will be an important component of this revolution, as will green energy generation and storage.

Reading this book will not give you the knowledge and confidence you require to assess and deliver development projects. It will also help you to understand the technologies which are going to change the way that structures will be built in the future. Technology will impact each step of the property development process from sourcing, acquiring and appraising development sites to structuring finance, obtaining planning consent, calculating build costs, and delivery of the project.

Understanding how the property sector is likely to be affected by technology will help you structure property development projects so as to minimize risk and maximize return on investment. The book was published on the 20th of November 2024.
